My husband was telling me about a co-worker who has to travel outside the country a lot on business.  This person said he was swarmed by a crowd of people, all talking at him and bumping into him in the lobby of his hotel.  When he reached into his pocket, grabbed his wallet out, and held it to his chest, the crowd suddenly dissipated.  I told Butch his friend needed an anti-theft bag from Travelon, so I went to see what they offered.  Knowing some men would rather be robbed than carry a “murse”, I looked to see if they had some tiny bags that could even be worn under a shirt or jacket.  The Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Neck Wallet fit the bill.

Like other Travelon anti-theft bags, this wallet has slash-proof mesh panels under the 900d polyester exterior and wire-encased slash-proof straps.  There are RFID-blocking pockets inside to protect the data on your cards and your passport.  There’s room for currency and even some phones inside the 7.5″ x 5.25″ x 1″ wallet.  The strap is adjustable.  You wear it around your neck, and you can even hide it out of sight under your jacket or shirt.  The Anti-Theft Classic Neck Wallet is $35.00 at Travelon.

  2. I wonder what the natives do? I know foreigners are more likely to be a target, but certainly there are people in those countries with things to lose, and those has so little to lose will certainly be more vigilant of protecting what little they have.

I wonder what practical solution they employ, having to deal with this problem everyday in their life, unlike a visitor.
