Do you dread the holidays because you never know what to buy for your geeky significant other? Here are a few ideas that I know your favorite geek will love. First up is the Geek Fuel mystery box. What is it? It’s exactly like the fruit of the month club only substitute cool geek stuff like toys, games, collectibles and more instead of the boring fruit. For example, December’s box included: a limited edition Geek Fuel t-shirt, Princess Bride playing cards, Darth Vader Pez dispenser, Halo Mega Bloks poseable mini figure, Geek Fuel sticker and Armor Hunters #1 comic. You can buy one Geek Fuel mystery box or subscribe to 3, 6 and 12 month plans that will keep your geek happy all year long. Prices start at $23.90 for individual boxes and go up to $238.80 for 12 boxes. For more info visit Geek Fuel.

The Regan Arts Virtual Reality Beginner’s Guide and Smartphone VR Viewer Toolkit is a build it yourself (they give you all the parts) virtual reality viewer that will work with most smartphones that are currently on the market. You build the kit, install free VR apps and then have fun immersing yourself in VR worlds. The kit is currently only $12.97 through Amazon and offers education and fun.

Another geeky DIY electronics kit is the Spikenzie Labs Useless Machine. It may be useless, but it’s also educational and just plain fun. The kit includes everything you need and doesn’t require soldering, so it’s perfect for young and older geeks. What is it?

It’s an exercise in philosophy! It’s a machine which, when you switch it on, immediately moves to turn itself off. Makes you think about the universe and our place in it! That’s pretty much all it does. Flick a switch and an armature pops out of the box and pushes the switch back to the OFF position, then pops back into the box. I brought it into school today and I can tell you, it can entertain a teenager for hours! I just set it down and let them figure it out.

The kit is priced at $35. Visit Spikenzie Labs for more info.
