A year ago I told you about teen product designer Nick Bain and his dry-erase light switch cover. Now he’s launched the Switch Port as a Kickstarter project seeking $750 in funding. The Switch Port is a replacement light switch cover that doubles as a dry-erase message board. The cover has been CNC milled and coated in an enameled in epoxy to prevent ink from soaking in and allowing you to use it over and over again. The cover has been designed to allow the included dry-erase marker to rest on top so it’s always available to write a quick note. Pledges start at $12 for one switch and go up to $75 for seven Switch Ports. If 16 year old Nick is successful in funding this project, he’ll become the youngest person to fund a new product. 2. Love the idea! And honestly, I’ve written a few notes on the light switch cover, myself. I just wipe them off with rubbing alcohol after.

I like that the kid actually capitalized on the fact that light switches are the first things we get to when we enter a room, and the last things before we go out — so it’s logically the best place to post a note on. 🙂

Good job for the kid, and I’m glad he met his Kickstarter goal. 🙂 Hope he can make the project into a commercial thing. I’d love to install one on all the switches in my house!
