USB charging hubs are everywhere, but this is the first one I’ve seen that’s designed for use in the car.  The Quad USB Power Charger from RichardSolo supplies 2.4A per port, so you can charge four power-hungry tablets simultaneously from your car’s DC outlet.  RichardSolo says charge times are the same using this hub as you expect from your home charger, and using the hub doesn’t put an undue drain on the car’s battery.  It switches off when you power off the car, though you’ll have to remember to turn it off if you have a car with a continually-on cigarette lighter.  It also has fused protection for short circuits and has overheat and overload protection. It measures 4.3″ x 3″ x 1.1″ and can be mounted in your car with the included mounting screws and double-sided tape.  With the optional AC convertor, you can also use the Quad USB Power Charger indoors.  It’s $39.95 at RichardSolo, and you can get free shipping using the quadhub code (expires April 28, 2014).

  2. I always have the problem of charging 4 iPads at once in my car. But my two accessory outlets are already being used for my coffee maker and portable fax machine. 😛

  3. That top image is odd: I’d love to see how the hub fits into a car, but it’s not actually *in* the car at all. There’s no actual reason for the car to be there other than to say ‘car’.
