  2. It was in early 80’s, when father brought me from Canada sci-fi-looking, white heavy plastic, making many awesome shooting laser sounds with various light effects. Sigh…

  3. One of my favorite childhood toys was Steel Tec. It was a set just like Erector Sets and it was so much fun trying to use Lego-Creativity with real tools and real steel to try to build models 😀

  4. I think legos were definitely one of my favorites growing up. I fondly remember combining legos from a technic formula racer with my regular legos into a neat little SUV that rolled surprisingly well on carpet 🙂

  5. Mecano. These were painted strips of metal with holes in them. You screwed them together to make carnival wheels and trucks. You even had a small electric motor so things moved. Best of all it never broke!

  6. If you count when I was a bit older, mine was stuff you could make with potassium nitrate, charcoal and sulfur. Unfortunately my father was a chemist so I sort of had to hide what I was doing.

If you want to count just legal stuff, I liked my erector set.

  7. I was definitely a fan of Lego, though it was nice to see the shout out for Erector above, they both had their advantages and disadvantages.

  8. My favorite toy growing up was a Parker Brothers “Merlin ,the electronic wizard”. Played with that thing all the time, took it everywhere.

  9. We had a large set of wooden building blocks. Each block was small and resembled a clay brick but with lego like interlocking pins. I built with them for hours.

  10. I had a bunch of toys when I was a kid, but the standout in my memory is the erector set with fond memories of Lincoln logs, matchbox and hotwheels cars.

  11. Toss up between Legos (in the pre-kit era) and my full-size GI Joe’s…Kung-fu grip and life-like fuzzy hair!!!
