It’s nice that phones and tablets usually have built-in external speakers so you can hear audio without needing earphones, but my experience has shown that those speakers are wimpy and don’t produce great sound or even decent volume.  I doubt you’ll get audiophile-pleasing sound, but you’ll probably get more volume if you use the Mini Snail-shaped Speaker for Smartphones.  This speaker has a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery (5V/300mA) that’s good for 3-hours of continuous playback.  Specifications for the speaker promise  0.5% maximum THD, 4 ohm impedance, and a frequency response of 100Hz – 200kHz, though I’m thinking they probably meant 20kHz.  😉  It measures 2.4″ X 2.1″ X 1.5″ and weighs 1.5 ounces.  Although they list the usual Apple and Samsung products by name, this speaker should actually work with most any device with a 3.5mm audio jack.  It’s available at AllPuter for $11.95.
