INK machined pen

I don’t know why, but I have a fascination with unique or different writing instruments. To be honest, I do not really like writing by hand, and some would say my penmanship is horrendous. But if I had to guess, I would have to say I appreciate what pens and pencils represent. A time when we wrote handwritten notes, and the writer side of me can still appreciate that as I do have a fine collection that I do use. The INK machined pen, a Kickstarter project from KarasKustoms, has caught my eye. The INK comes in two versions, a rollerball version or a fountain pen type. The rollerball version comes with Schmidt rollerball insert but can also use Parker or Fisher refills. The fountain version comes with a #5 stainless steel German-made nib assembly and converter manufactured by Schmidt. The nib assembly will work with standard ink cartridges, or you can use the provided converter to use bottled ink. The main body of both pens is manufactured out of T-6061 aircraft aluminum, with the grip section coming in either aluminum, brass, or copper. The pen clip and screws are made from stainless steel. If funded, the INK will be available in a rainbow of colors (their description) and will start shipping in April 2014. Funding for the INK starts at $60, which will get you a silver rollerball version of the INK. Funding for this project runs through January 17, 2014.

  2. Don’t understand this project at all. There are many different fountain pens on the market, at all kinds of prices. A fountain pen’s quality is a matter of the nib and the balance. This one is all about the barrel, and not the writing experience, so what’s the point? (no pun intended)
