Anyone??? I am so not the gamer… But I use to love playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter for hours on end, back in the day, when the only HD you had was real life, hard drives were in single digit megabytes and connectivity was two modems barely holding onto each other over phone lines. For years, I have been hoping for a modern day follow up to what I consider one of THE SciFi dogfighting games of all time. Well, it seems that Lucas Arts and Disney are doing just that; they are releasing Star Wars: Attack Squadrons in the coming year. The game is a multiplayer dogfight/battle set in the Star Wars universe and features 3 PVP modes (free for all, team dogfight, and base defense) plus ship customization. You can sign up to be part of their beta program on the website’s main page – I have. 😉 Here is the trailer…

  2. Wow…I remember X-Wing vs TIE Fighter. It was super fun back in the day! It’s nice that they’re continuing on the Star Wars franchise. pew-pew

  3. I believe the only response I have to this is.

    “SSSSSQQQQQQQQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”

    That is all.

  4. @Dave – Oh, I totally remember “X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter.” In fact, I still have the PC game on the original CDROM. Basically any Star Wars game rockets (pun intended) the top of my list of favorites, but I especially liked XvT. This new Attack Squadrons looks awesome, and I signed up for the beta too. Crossing my fingers that this is a sign that with Disney at the helm of the license, they will be bringing back the fun of that golden age of SW games, but with today’s current hardware and software, it should be even better.
