I’ve seen a lot of talk about a see-through smartphone – how about a see-through watch?

If you weren’t one of the lucky people to win a Tokyoflash Japan watch in the recent contest here at The Gadgeteer, you can purchase yourself Tokyoflash’s newest, unique offering.  The face of the Kisai Spider Acetate is a transparent, slightly smoked acetate LCD panel that lets you see through to the skin beneath.  It has a hexagonal face, white acetate case, and white polyurethane band with “leather effect.”  The LCD display (available in black, red, blue, or green) is “always on” and has a clear backlight.  It’s available at a special new-release price of $109 until Friday, December 13th, at 11:00am Japan time.

  2. Ok…can’t resist anymore – this is dumb.

I have seen a lot of press releases, advertises under the cover of articles for TokyoFlash products. I have always bit my tongue because while I found their products impractical, unnecessarily complicated, and ugly, like pocketable boulders.

But this one broke all the rules. So what if the watch is transparent, what do you expect to see under it? Your wrist hair? Or does it come with a visit to a permanent tattoo parlor so you can put one on your wrist? Or do you hold it in your hand and look through it as you walk down the street?
