If a smartwatch is too bulky for your wrist, but you still would like call answer and reject capabilities, check out the Vybe Smart Bracelet. The Vybe is a crowdfunded project that notifies the wearer of calls, messages and a lost phone. It can be worn on your wrist or your ankle and comes in a variety of bright colors. The Vybe will vibrate once for a text message and in one-second intervals for an incoming call. Calls can be quickly rejected by pressing the Vybe. If you walk more than 50 ft away from your phone it will vibrate rapidly to alert you. It’s compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5/5C/5S and all Android, Windows, and Blackberry models that support Bluetooth 4.0 and lasts up to 4 days on a single charge. The crowdfunded project is seeking $43,000 and is currently earned $37,000 with 27 days left. You can pre-order a Vybe for $39 with shipping estimated winter 2013/2014.

  2. At first I thought it had minimal usefulness, then after watching the video I realized that I had done some of those things myself. A vibe might have prevented me from forgetting my phone a few times and missing a few calls that I was unaware I was receiving.

Hmmm…. May have to think about backing this one.

  3. Thinkgeek stopped selling theirs – I had one, and it was the only item of their’s I’ve ever returned. It just didn’t work. (It would lose connection with a phone right next to it…) It also just ‘felt’ cheap.

A good implementation would be nice.

  4. I bought something very similar on eBay in August 2013, straight from China. Works fairly well – vibrates for calls. It does sometimes lose the connection, but reconnects almost immediately. And it was less than $3 shipped to Australia. It is so similar, that the pictures of the vybe could be exactly what I bought, including the metal clip bit that locks into two holes of the bracelet.
