As someone who can touch type much faster that I can write with a pen, I prefer to use a physical keyboard with my tablet vs. an onscreen keyboard any day. Especially if I’m working on a review or writing a really long email. Most keyboards designed for tablets can’t be used on your lap, but the new ZAGGkeys Folio keyboard case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 can. It has a clamshell design with a hinge that offers over 135° of viewing angles. It also features backlit keys in seven interchangeable colors and three lighting levels.  The built in rechargeable battery offers up to three months of use between charges. At only 8.47 in (215.1 mm) wide, I’m not convinced it would make a perfect portable workstation, but for people with small hands, it just might. The ZAGGkeys Folio is available now through ZAGG  for $99.99.

  2. There is a physical limit and even the ones for the iPad are too small to use for extended period of time. It is one of the reasons we stopped looking at them…cool as the idea may be.

  3. Hahaha I remember the Stowaway keyboard… very creative. The only issue I had is that it was a bit on the thick side. But what a better way to get a full sized keyboard.

I have the Note 8 and came across the Zaggkeys. Have you actually used it? It must be new because its hard to find an actual hands-on review.

  4. I just picked up this keyboard case at a mall kiosk in Toronto. It looks really cool. I haven’t typed on it for very long, but it seems to be very comfortable so far. I have a 10″ netbook and this keyboard is much easier to type on. I don’t think that I would want to typed on it all day, but for emails and quick notes it should work quite well.

I was quite disappointed when I first turned it on. Every key repeated about 10 times and it was randomly adding accents to letters. A quick Google search found a solution. Simply turn the power off and on. That worked for me, but others have had to re pair (as in pair again) the keyboard. I’ll be keeping an eye on this and if it continues, I will be returning it.

There aren’t a lot of reviews yet. The best one that I have seen is by James Kendrick on CNET. He seems to really like it.

I really hope that the repeating keys thing was a fluke. I really want to like this keyboard.

  5. Hi June,

I am the ZAGG kiosk owner at Fairview Mall. I haven’t heard of the repeating key issue but if it continues to be a problem come back to the kiosk and we’ll gladly swap it for a new one. Glad you like it!
