To me, LEGO bricks represent childhood, imagination and fun. This new book from Starch Press on the other hand, does not. The 232 page BrickGun Book by Jeff Boen has step-by-step instructions for building five handgun replicas from readily available LEGO pieces. Model plans include the classic Berreta 92FS and a rubber-band-firing MAC-11. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m not a gun person, but this book just bums me out for some reason…

  2. Yeah, I don’t think I would want my son playing with a handgun replica lego gun. A squirt gun sure, or something that resembles a toy. It’s cool if it’s marketed towards adults who want to feel a little nostalgia playing with legos again, I suppose.

  3. Ok, so I think the book is cool but the price is a little steep, especially for the ebook version…. $23.95????? come on now…

  4. @Carlos: Given Lego’s known official stance on the issue, I’m sure it’s marketed towards adults. In fact, I’m almost surprised they managed to actually put the word ‘LEGO’ on the cover.

It’s not an official Lego kit, and it’s not being sold by Lego – it’s just another one of many examples of the many many things that you can build with Legos. I’m always impressed by the amount of work people put into that.

  5. Shel_TK, guns weren’t bad last year. But now that the big O says so they’re bad. What saddens me is the fact that so many have lost sight that legitimate gun ownership is what keeps free societies free from tyranny. Giving a kid a Lego gun isn’t going to hurt anybody except for maybe the psyche of those who put their trust in Big government.

  6. My only reservation with this is, with the heightened sensitivity toward anything even resembling a firearm, that the police will be called if even a glimpse of one of these is seen in public. And by public I mean your yard, through your front window, facebook…
