For those Aussies waiting for the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite to finally be available locally here’s some good news.  Amazon’s still not shipping to Australia however  Dick Smith Online has the Paperwhite up for pre-order. The best news is that the cost is only $149AU, a price that’s actually even cheaper than importing from the US via a third party. Shipping starts on the 12th of  February.

I love my Paperwhite and if you’re thinking of purchasing one  I suggest you read our review here.

  2. Michael, I beta tested in Australia (see if they worked upside down) and must admit that I paid more than the Dicky Smith price for the “privilege’. But I’d do it again, haven’t had an issue and mine gets used a LOT. 🙂

  3. Just a comment for any Australians: Dick Smith Electronics stores seem to have stock now as well as the online store. If the store shows a price other than $149 in the in-store advertising ask them to scan a box. My local DSE has $169 on the in-store advertising and $149 when they scan the box. These seem to be without “offers” as well.
