I wonder if my older iMac will recognize this as a “fusion” drive?
Nope. It’s designed to look exactly like any other hard drive to the OS.
Fusion drives are interesting: They treat the HDD as overflow from the SSD, not the SSD as cache for the HDD like this and just about everyone else does. More space, probably slightly better drive usage for the average user, but slightly less reliable.
