You’re on the couch watching a movie and you need a snack but can’t be bothered getting off the couch. If you’ve got the Popinator from Popcorn Indiana then you can snack without moving or even having to dig your hands into a bowl or bag . By saying the word “Pop” , the kernel cannon will shoot popcorn right at you. The cannon is voice-activated. Using a set of binaural microphones, it can establish parameters such as direction and distance to “accurately” shoot that popcorn kernel right into your mouth up to 15 feet away. It’s still only a concept, but looks like it could be a bit of fun if it ever goes into production.

Wow…that has to be one of the most useless gadgets I’ve ever seen. And I wonder how much practice it takes to catch the darn thing in your mouth? I can see my dogs loving it, as I miss and scatter popcorn all over the floor.
Should be a real hoot in a cubical farm…walk down the corridor shouting “Pop”…niiiiice……

I used to stay with my aunt and uncle during the summers in Valparaiso Indiana… and every year they had a “popcorn festival” – because that’s where Orville Redenbacher was born

Wow…has humans got that lazy?!?! Next product in their lineup is probably the SodaPopinator. How can you have a Popinator without a SodaPopinator to wash it down?!?! C’mon…it’s only logical….
I had an email from one of our readers saying they thought this was a hoax. So I emailed Popcorn Indiana and asked if the Popinator was for real or a joke. Here’s the response:

Thank you for contacting Popcorn Indiana.
Unfortunately, the Popinator is not for sale right now, but maybe one day. What you see in the video is just a prototype we have in-house and it is still in the testing phase. Everything you saw it do in the video is real and really happened. We’re constantly trying to be more innovative with our products and making the popcorn experience more fun is a big part of it.
