waterfield muzetto outbackJulie reviewed the leather Muzetto bag  some time ago; now WaterField Designs have updated the line with the Muzetto Outback in five sizes.  The Outback version is made of waxed canvas that’s going to develop more character as the bag is used.  Waxed canvas was originally developed for water-proofing sailing garments, and it brings a rugged look to the bag.  WaterField thinks the Muzetto Outback looks like something “a modern Indiana Jones would use for his new iPad tablet.”

The Outback is available in five sizes: the Personal (10.5″ x 8.5″ x 1.5″) for $149, 10″ Portable (11.5″ x 9.3″ x 2.0″) for $159, 11″ Laptop (12.25″ x 9.75″ x 2.25″) for $169, 13″ Laptop (14″ x 11″ x 2.5″) for $179, and the 15″ Laptop (15.5″ x 11.75″ x 2.7″) for $189.  The Personal can hold an iPad in the WaterField Suede Jacket or Slip Sleeve, and the 10″ Portable can hold an iPad in WaterField’s iPad Smart Case or the Ultimate SleeveCase.  The other bags hold MacBook Airs or Pros, and all these bags are designed with other pockets to hold papers, cash, phone, and other gear.  The Muzetto Outback bags will ship March 26, and you can pre-order now.

  2. What is the point of adding “new ipad” into the title? The “new” ipad is dimensionally the same as the iPad2, isn’t it?

Or did you just do it so this will show up in searches when people google “new iPad”?

    😐

@Mark I used “new iPad” in this news post because WaterField described their newly released cases as being designed specifically for the new iPad in their announcement. And the new iPad differs a tiny amount in thickness and in weight from the iPad 2, although the difference in thickness is probably negligible for most things.

  4. Hello Janet I love this article because I love the look of this case the smaller personal one but yes it does cost a lot so I have to ask your opinion I have an iPad 3 with a zaggfolio keyboard case it’s very handy for me i want to know if it will fit in this case and yes maybe a sock or sleeve on the zaggfolio for protection, sounds bizarre but I like protection, zaggfolio is generally the size of one of those 10″ net books, if it does all fit then I will have to decide the outback version or leather they all look so good and I love your picture of the bag.

  5. @Martinez Thank you for all your kind words, but I can’t take credit for the picture of the bag. This is just a news announcement, and I used a picture from WaterField’s site. I haven’t actually had any hands-on experience with any of the Muzetto bags, but Julie has had one for some time.

I, too, like to protect my gear with more than one case or cover – you can never be too careful, right? 😉 WaterField says the Personal size fits an iPad in one of their iPad cases, but I’m thinking you might need a larger size if you have the iPad in a keyboard case and then put another case on top of that. There are several sizes to choose from, so you can probably find just what you need in the Muzetto line.

I think I’d just case my iPad up in everything it would be wearing and measure it to see which bag it might work best in. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
