  2. As a Search and Rescue member, my main staple when we are out is my hydration backpack. Regardless of the weather, season, or callout, I can always have it with me and stay completely hydrated! It is also just enough to keep my energy bars, and some small tools and essentials with me!

  3. I have a bag that has a variety of items in it. Tactical knife, multi tool, spare magazine for my everyday carry, ear plugs, a few feet of paracord, etc.

  4. Mine would have to be my Skeletool from Leatherman. I bought it mainly for emergency’s but I am surprised how often I use it every week for small things.

  5. There are many great survival tools at my disposal, but without whitts, they are all useless. Cheesy, I know but we would all feel lost without our whitts about us.

  6. My favorite is the first aid kit. Haven’t had to use on others but thank goodness I have it for myself. Been carrying one since I left home in’92.

  7. My EDC is pretty simple. My wallet, a thumbdrive, my Maratac AAA flashlight with chapstick cap diffuser, and my Leatherman Wave. However, the Leatherman is probably the one thing that I would label as my favorite, and the one thing that I would feel the most lost without. While I have upgraded a couple of times (start with an original PST, then a first-gen Wave, and now the new Wave), Leatherman has kept me going in more situations than I can remember. Whether opening my frozen pizza, or once fixing the clutch on my motorcycle on the side of the road, the tools in that unit are always there, and always reliable.

  8. My Leatherman is the most valuable thing. I have been able to solve most problems I encounter using this single tool — not always in an elegant way mind you.

  9. As a physician, I’ve been putting together my own medical kit for the trunk of my car. I’m thinking of putting it all in a tackle box. In the meantime, I’ve got a more sparse medical kit and, on my keychain, a Fenix E05 flashlight, a Spyderco Ladybug, and a Leatherman Micra multitool.

  10. My Swiss Army Classic 5d knife. Small enough to always have in a pocket and I have used every tool in it many times. I’m always carrying an assortment of tools in my pocket or bag all the time, but the little SAK has done more than all the others combined.

  11. My absolutely favorite item that I cannot live without is my SOG Power Assist Multitool. This tool can do ANYTHING you decide to throw at it. The gear driven pliers can snap a penny with ease. Both knives are sharper than anything I have ever owned

  12. My single-blade knife. I take it everywhere. Usually the worst pinches it finds itself involve cutting open annoying cardboard boxes, but it’s the handiest thing I carry.

  13. I have three items I carry everyday: A Leatherman Charge, a Benchmade Doug Ritter Model Mini-Griptillian and a Nebo Redline flashlight (pocket-sized and AMAZINGLY bright). Of the three items, I have carried the Mini-Griptillian for over 3 years and if I don’t have it on me, I feel nearly naked.

  14. Most of my survival adventures happen around an office or car. The Leatherman Squirt P4 has saved the day a number of times.

  15. My most important survival tool is my ham radio, a Kenwood TH-D72A . With APRS my position is broadcast every so often and with a good antenna, which I have, I can reach quite far, even to satellites! And the built-in GPS allows me to navigate to wherever I need. Not as nicely as with my Garmin 62S but adequately so.

  16. These items will come in handy when the banks or government puts us out on the streets, I like to keep a “go bag” with a first aid kit, compass and fire starter and some other assorted gear, but, my favorite would be a leatherman.

  17. First item on my survival gear list is a working brain. Without a clear head and a functioning brain, no other tools are usable. The second item is a set of skills and experiences, so you know what to do and how to do it. The third item is a will to live. No point in having super-cool gear in an emergency if you don’t have enough determination to survive.

  18. I work as a track-cutter on the remote west coast of tasmania so i do have a few things that i depend on,but one thing that is most precious is my dry bag with my toilet paper in it. 🙂

  19. Mine’s a radio. I remember sitting on a commuter train on 9/11, after being let out early from work, COMPLETELY in the dark about what was going on, and the train was just sitting in the station for 20 minutes. Nobody knew if other cities were being hit, if more planes were involved, if there was panic in the streets.

  20. My favorite must have survival tool is my Leatherman MUT. It’ll get me through most anything and it’ll help me with my AR-15

  21. My main Survival item that I carry is QuikClot. It stops bleeding and comes in a variety of sizes and also a bandage. Many people are on blood thinners nowadays and every kit should have some.

  22. Definitely my Kershaw Fire multitool: the combination of a sharp blade and a standard-size screwdriver set gets me through most of the IT day.

  23. The most essential survival tool is the knife you have on your person when you find yourself in a survival situation. After that, I think a good multi-tool and LED flashlight are must haves.

  24. I have a Doug Ritter custom Benchmade Mini Griptillian with S30V steel and an Axis lock mechanisim. Of the 20 or so medium to high end pocket/combat knives I own, this is my go-to knife time after time.

  25. It’s a tie: Spyerco Native and Nighthawk Gladius. On the one hand rule #9 is never go anywhere without a knife, and the Spyderco Native is designed for a variety of different jobs. On the other hand, the Nighthawk Gladius is the greatest flashlight of all time. Expensive, sure, but you always have just the right amount of light for every task because it can dim through it’s whole range of illumination, preserving night vision and functioning perfectly in every lighting environment.

  26. without my water bottle it would be a tough & confusing situation.

    A week without food,
    barely days without water,
    but only minutes without air.

    Goodluck – thank you

  27. My choice would be a handy spork! I know weird right?
I feel when I am out, even in survival mode, it’s about the moment.

Yes I would have knife, emergency supplies, water…

When things are low or you’re cold, then you take out your spork… how can you not smile! And our point of view, regardless if in survival or the everyday, is paramount to our lives and our very daily survival!

  28. No survival kit is complete without a handy & trusty Victorinox Swiss Army knife. If you need to complete your Survival kit, Emergency supplies or Adventure Equipment checkout SwissPocketKnivesOnline dot com

  29. A whistle. As simple as it is, it provides an effective form of long range communication within wooded areas that does not require batteries or maintenance.
