No Friends? Practice Ping Pong with a Robot

Robots are taking over the world! Ok, not really – yet. They are coming one step closer though, just take a look at the Practice Partner 10 Robot from Home Leisure Direct. This table tennis robot can’t play an entire game with you, but it can help you perfect your serve. You can set them to randomly play to anywhere on the table, or keep on playing exactly the same shot, same spin or serving towards exactly the same place. It has a speed of 25-80 balls per minute. Robots aren’t cheap, so you’ll have to pay £542.47 (approximately $892.95 US) for this convenience.

A video of it in action would go a long way in convincing those of us who have been playing since we could see above the table that this robot can actually “play” :-)

@RainyDayInterns Just to be clear, it won’t return a serve. It will just keep serving balls.

Ah…that would make more sense :-) The reason for the confusion was this bit here in the article…”but it can help you perfect your serve.”

So more like it will help you perfect the return…

@RainyDayInterns Whoops…. can you tell I don’t play ping pong? ;)

If it were to return serves, I would act now and pay 5 installments of $999.99 because this is probably not available in stores.

Strewth I don’t think I’ll bother with one of those I’m sure I can find a chum to play Ping Pong with or I could just stick to playing Mahjong a far more civilised game :)
