Mousepad with USB Hub and Speaker

Here’s a multi-purpose gadget for you from Gadget4All.com.  This roll-up mousepad also has a 4-port  1.1 USB hub.  It also has two speakers that can be connected to an mp3 player using the included 3.5mm audio cable.  The speakers/hub are powered with the included USB cable, but it appears there is a connector if you supply your own AC adapter.  The Roll Up Mousepad with Speaker + Hub would make a compact addition to your travel kit.  It’s $22.00 at Gadget4All.

Did I hear “1.1 USB?” That limits its usefulness quite a bit. Also, the “roll-up” feature is good for traveling, but the pad will be curled up and won’t stay flat after unrolling.

This is a neat idea, but poorly implemented.

Having all the ports angled towards the user and their mouse also seems like a poor design. Cable management challenges I think. Having one USB for quick connects/disconnects (syncing a phone for instance) angled towards the user makes some sense, but the rest should be in the back out of the way. IMHO

Yep, the only things people use old-style 1.1 ports for nowadays are things like keyboards and mice. Cameras, camcorders, smartphones, mp3s, tablets and hard drives are all much more usable at the higher speed.

Poorly-implemented attempt to ask a question nobody asked, possibly. The mat would probably ruck up and rumple due to being rolled up — like rolled keyboards, the portability would get in the way of normal use a bit.
