logitech k750

This morning my Apple wireless keyboard for my iMac popped up a message saying the battery was low. I love that keyboard but I don’t love that I have to feed it batteries every few months.  Logitech must have read my mind because they’ve just introduced their first solar powered keyboard. The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 has a lot going for it. First of all, you won’t have to take this keyboard outside in order to charge it. It will recharge with indoor light and can stay charged for at least three months in total darkness. There’s a Windows app that will tell you how much charge is left and how much power your desk lamp is putting out. This keyboard also comes with a unifying USB receiver that allows you to add a compatible wireless mouse so that you’ll only need one receiver for both.  Sound good? Then go get one. They will be available sometime this month, and can be pre-ordered now for $79.99.

    1. @Marak You don’t have to go outside to charge it. It will recharge via indoor light too. Not sure how well, but that’s what they are claiming 🙂

  2. Haha i think my fiancee is pointing to the face not much light gets into my office 😛 at least when not working.

Still i would consider one, might wait for someone else to test it that i know(and i do love logitech hardware)

    1. @Lex I’ll find out for sure, but my guess is that the compatibility issue is for the application that you can install to check the charge. It’s probably Windows based only. I would guess that the keyboard would work fine with the Mac. Their mice / USB dongles have always worked fine for me. I’ll find out though and report back.

  3. Seems like a green idea unless one buys this to replace another wireless keyboard that still works. My Logitech wireless keyboard needs new batteries about every 5-6 months and my wireless trackballs need changes at about the same intervals. I amazed at how long they run between battery changes.
