You’ve seen cases for phones that have external batteries, now Kensington is introducing one for the iPad.  The PowerBack is a soft-finish case that fits over the back of your iPad for a little extra protection.  It has a 4400 mAh lithium-ion battery inside that provides up to an additional 5 hours of surfing, using apps, reading, or anything else you do with your iPad.  There’s an LED battery meter to show the charge in the PowerBack.  Speaker deflectors inside allow you to use the iPad’s external speaker.  The case connects to the docking connector on the iPad and outputs 5V DC, 2.1A power to the iPad, and there’s a micro USB port (input: 5V DC, 0.5-2.1A)  so you can sync and charge your iPad (and the PowerBack) without having to remove it from the case.  There’s a built-in steel kickstand that let’s you use your iPad handsfree in portrait, landscape, or typing positions.  The Kensington PowerBack Battery Case is $129.99;  Kensington is taking pre-orders now.

ooooo….I’m waiting for something like this! My ipad barely makes it through the workday because of the constant 3G usage.
