iphone simI’m just the messenger here.  I don’t have an iPhone (GASP!) but  if I were in the market I would take a double take at this dual SIM card adapter (seen on SlipperyBrick), especially given the posts I’ve seen that describe adapting a SIM card for the iPhone via a pair of scissors.  Anyway, we are here for your elucidation if not entertainment, and so, with that, indulge…

I’m reluctant to put this out in so public a place, but you’re still unclear as to the exact details of what this does. And haven’t actually listed all the important information.

Here’s how I would have reported on this product:

Most US cell phones limit you to using just one SIM card at a time. On the iPhone you can use a push pin to pop the original AT&T SIM card out to insert a different SIM card. This might be to change the phone to a different AT&T phone line or to insert a non-AT&T card into a hacked phone.

But in some Asian markets you can actually put two separate SIM cards into the single phone and then use a menu to switch from one card (phone line) to another.

Now, the folks at USBFever.com have created an adapter that allows you to attach two separate SIM cards to your iPhone 4 (only the 4 model!) via the micro SIM connector.

And what if you don’t have an iPhone 4? Well we have seen some demonstrations on how to cut out the actual chip on your SIM card to put it into an adapter that can handle two separate SIM chips inside the regular iPhone 3g’s SIM card slot. (Our problem is that we can’t persuade anyone we know to test this out by cutting up their cards.)

How important is it to have two SIM cards for your iPhone 4? If a lot, then the $30 price on this gadget might not be too much.

Wow, very well written and nice tech humor too. Good example!

The majority of your post are spot on or to the point, anyone
    can have an off day.
