sharper airEven though there are many products on the market that claim to disinfect or purify air/water/objects, they typically ask us to trust they’re working on blind faith with no way to actually show that there’s a tangible toxin in need of removing.  With typical air purifiers, there will eventually be the bits of dust or hair stuck in the filter after a few weeks, but nothing visible day to day to let you know just how dirty the air is.  Sharper Image now has available an air purifier with a pollution sensor lamp that glows red when the surrounding air is highly polluted, dark purple for moderate pollution, light purple for low pollution, and blue for clean air.  A 3-stage Hepa filter cleans 99.5% of airborne particles and will cover a room up to 24o square feet.  It’s available through Sharper Image for $279.99.

  2. Sharper Image has long made overpriced, under-engineered junk, and I can’t imagine that this air cleaner is any different. An air cleaner is, after all, a fan with a filter in a box, and there are many good ones available for way under $200. Next…

But Jerry, this overpriced, under-engineered junk also has a glowing, color-changing lamp!! It’s like a fan wearing a dirt mood ring. Hmm, on second thought, your point is noted 🙂
