Tenqa FrontI had the opportunity to review the Tenqa SP-109 speaker. It is part of a line of Bluetooth accessories from Tenqa. You can read the previous reviews for the HP-109 Headphones and the SP-99 Speakers. The SP-109 is designed to play music from any a Bluetooth 1.2 compliant device, or through the line-in from an audio player.

I had no issues pairing a number of bluetooth-enabled phones with this speaker system and play music. All inputs and controls are located on the right side of the speakers:

BT Speaker

The AC adapter port, line-in jack, volume and power switch are located here. An indicator on the right front (appropriately a blue LED) indicates if the system is on. If it is a solid blue, the device is connected to a bluetooth player (or phone). If it is blinking it is waiting to be paired.

The sound quality was OK, but you are not going to confuse this with a Bose Acoustic Wave, we are talking 4 watts per speaker. It is very convenient to pair, and playing is a breeze. This is bigger than the SP-99, but not too big, and has twice the wattage of the SP-99. Unlike it’s portable cousin, there are no controls on the speaker to control your player, no line-out to connect to another speaker system, nor does it work with batteries. This highlights the core difference between the two in that the SP-99 is listed as portable and the SP-109 as desktop.

I like the speakers. They have earned a spot on my desktop. The price has dropped on this and the SP-99 as they are now $49.99. I would have liked a line-out from the speaker (and I’m not sure why that is in the portable, but not the desktop).
