I have the CiragoTV Mini (http://cirago.com/ctm1000). It's similar to this Micca player, but even smaller. I put all my downloaded and ripped content on an external hard drive, and can play it back on my HD TV using the CiragoTV Mini player. It plays ripped DVD files keeping all the DVD menus, so works great for me! It's also a little less $$ ($49.99) than the Micca player.

I think unless there is a way to load content on it without having to go throug the ripping/conversion process I don't know how well this will do. While I am quite capable of ripping movies to my hard drive this is a time consuming effort. Sure you can automate the process but you still have to get the DVD VOB file onto the computer. Plus I don't want to have to buy DVDs so how do I get rental content onto this device? From what I have seen it's not easy go transfer rental video from one device to another and in many cases it's prohibited. Tivo has the same problem which limits me to what content I can move to this device.

The Archos line of products seems better suited for portable video than this one.
