Amazon has released the long-anticipated “Kindle for Mac” app today. The application, which is free, allows users with or without a Kindle to access the 450,000 e-books from Amazon’s Kindle Store.
If you are a Kindle user, you will experience a seamless integration between your Kindle device and the application on your Mac (Intel-based machines only). You will be able to access your Kindle library when you don’t have your Kindle with you, and your most previously read page (whether read on your Kindle device or your Mac) will always be synchronized using Amazon’s Whispernet service. - A Mac with a 500MHz Intel processor or faster
- At least 512MB of RAM
- Screen resolution of 800×600 or greater
- Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
- 100MB of available disk space

There’s something very interesting in this Kindle for Mac app picture.
The book is in color!
Since the Kindle itself is only grayscale, it looks like Amazon recognizes the importance of selling epubs in color.
I know all my book covers have been in colors on any other Kindle devices, including now my MacBook Pro, my laptop PC, my iPod Touch and even my Blackberry! Which brings me to the fact that the Whispernet Sync feature is not only between 2 units, but across all of them 🙂 Yippee!
