geochron clockI saw one of these gorgeous clocks years ago in a strange, little map store in Greensboro.  Trust me when I tell you the picture doesn’t do it justice.  The Geochron was invented by Jim Kilburg, a mechanical engineer, in the early 1960’s.  Since 1965, Geochron clocks have been handmade in America – the gears are even hand-cut.  The map is printed with state-of-the-art lithography and uses UV light-resistant inks.  Geochron simultaneously shows time around the world, and illuminates the part of the world currently in light.  Prices range from $1645 to $2795, available directly from Geochron.  You can also find a list of authorized resellers at the Geochron site.
