oxo cordcatch 1The Cord Catch from OXO is one of those extremely simple little gadgets that you never knew you needed until you had the opportunity to use one.

What is it? It’s a small half dome shaped holder that is made of heavy die cast zinc. It has a non-slip base that sits on a flat surface and holds unplugged cords so they won’t fall off the edge of a table.

It’s an attractive holder, with smooth edges and for such a small object, it feels pretty heavy at 5 ounces.

The rubber base keeps it from sliding around without having to mess with sticky adhesives.

There’s a slot in the top that allows you to easily slip in the end of a USB cable, power cord, etc. The slot narrows so that cord won’t slide completely out of the holder.

It even keeps a grip on smaller plugged cables like the microUSB Kindle 2 charger cable.

There really isn’t much more you can say about the OXO Good Grips Cord Catch. It is a very simple product that performs the simple task of keeping unplugged cables from falling off the edge of a table, desk, night stand, counter, etc.  It’s been handy for me because my cat always likes to play with cords on the floor. Now I can keep those cords up and out his sight. It gets a thumbs up from me.

  2. hehe…the first few pictures made it look huge…and then the picture with the usb cord put it back into perspective…haha

@Julie: How heavy would you say it is?

  3. I can see myself using one of these in my office, since when it’s time to go, I yank my cables out, stash my gadgets in my bag, and run out the door 😉

The next morning, I’m always on my hands and knees looking for where that *^&$!! adapter cord went to!

  4. looking at the oxo-Kindle pic, i’m assuming you can fit 2 or 3 more cables into it? I generally have about 4 cables (firewire, dvi, 2 usbs) running out of my 12″ powerbook… so i dont want to have multiple oxo grippy pods on my desk.
Another vote for “Hai, good job” !!!
