Wear a working kaleidoscope around your neck

kalideoscopeYesterday we went down to Nashville, IN to shop for Christmas gifts. Nashville is an artist’s community and is only about 8 miles from my house. It’s always fun to take a quick trip down there for lunch and shopping. After a really good bacon and swiss quiche in front of a burning fireplace at Nani’s Eatery and Deli, we stopped into the Rings and Things shop. I’m not much into jewelry, but I like this shop because it always has something ‘different’ to see and I wasn’t disappointed yesterday. On the counter there were some necklaces hanging from a display that had thin silver tubes attached to them. I just thought they were some kind of pendants, but when I looked closer, I noticed that they looked like tiny telescopes. They were actually tiny 2-3 inch long kaleidoscope that really worked. At over $100 each, they weren’t cheap. But they were really cool and would make a unique gift. Anyone out there ever made their own full sized kaleidoscope before? I’d like to try my hand at one sometime.
