I just used this method in my car – charging my iphone and playing music over the aux-in was creating horrible static – 3 ferrite cores and a ground loop isolator (basically a giant ferrite core) and absolute silence when using the iphone over the stereo.

The best part? taking phone calls still works using the iphone’s mic and the car’s speakers – ultra speakerphone ftw!
