Julie, do you read the consumer website called The Consumerist? It’s now owned by Consumer Reports, but has more cheek and wit than the parent publication. At any rate, just about every day of the week we read more horror stories there about the shortcomings of HP laptops. Mostly overheating problems leading to premature motherboard failure. I’d advise you to keep these in mind before you tout any more HP laptop deals — or at least warn readers to consider that particular purchase very carefully…
A) Saying HP’s entire line of laptops is defective isn’t a fair statement. If HP Laptops were that horrible, the company and its products would not exist in hundreds of retail outlets, channel and worldwide. And they wouldn’t be the number 1 worldwide PC maker. B) Having a small percentage of people (relative to the number of PCs shipped worldwide) receiving defective / overheating units doesn’t justify composing a “warning” to general mass that HP Laptop products are defective.
Fair enough, but I’ve heard of enough problems with HP that they would definitely NOT be my first choice in a laptop, even if I scored a great deal on one. I had an HP laser printer for a year or two, and that was a pretty clunky piece of work too; I’m much happier with the Brother I have now. Caveat emptor…
my OLD old hp lasejet 4l is doing just fine, theres a lemon and a jewel for most companies.
