RAGGEDedge Gear Inc. is a mother and daughter team that offers some very trendy looking wallets, gear bag, purses and pouches made of sailcloth. Sailcloth is the material used to make sails for sailboats. It’s very tough, light weight, waterproof, smell proof, stretch resistant and extremely easy to clean. Some of their products are constructed of sailcloth laminates that are made with a variety of different fibers, including Carbon Fiber, Aramid, Kevlar, and Pentex. These RAGGEDedge Gear wallets look like a fancier alternative than the ALL-ETT and are priced between $18 – $50 depending on style and customization.

  2. These look interesting, but I looked on their website and couldn’t find any info on what material is used for the threads. They mention triple zig zag stitching…but with what kind of thread?Having ultra strong materials to make up the body of the object is great, but if the thread wears and breaks prematurely, it’s just not worth it.
Any way to find out the quality of the thread used?

  3. I just ordered the Carbon Fibre Bifold ID (black). Will post my notes on arrival as well. Note to RaggedEdge, if you’re reading and want me to review any more alongside Julie let me know 😉

  4. @Julie. Cool! My last wallet was a dept store Guess 10+yrs ago and, well, it needs to be put out of its misery. This looks like it could be a lifetime one! Carbon fibre fabric is a tad stiff, but hopefully sitting on it a few hundred times will loosen it up 🙂

  5. FWIW mine arrived today (fast!). Seems very tough, EXTREMELY thin, and with the lifetime warranty I imagine will last a long time. It’s basically about 1/2″ longer than my current “standard” size wallet. Fully loaded with existing wallet contents, it’s just about the thickness of the old wallet empty:

    4 credit cards
    1 drivers license
    1 health insurance card
1 gas station rewards card (I claim temporary insanity)
Car Insurance card in tuck away pocket
10 bills of various denominations. (side note: the bill pocket is larger/longer than normal, so checks and receipts should fit easily)

So far, very pleased! Waiting for the carbon fibre to break in and loosen up a little, but it should go great in back or front pockets! (It comes with a note also that states it will break in and stretch as it is a bit snug right out of the package.) It also comes with a little card explaining break in and cleaning.

(Oh, and the ladies @ RE were again VERY responsive to all q’s and emails!)

  6. Hey, I just received my mini wallet from RAGGEDedge. I literally ordered it late Thursday night after reading about it. Today is Monday and I have it in hand. The material looks really cool, and sturdy, and it’s obviously well made. This makes a great front pocket wallet. The material is really stiff, but just from the past few minutes of bending and twisting it, I think it will break in nicely. Great product!

  7. @Julie,

I went for the all black carbon fibre (which has some white inside too) Bifold ID model. I liked
so many, including the orange one. I may order another just to have my choices avail. Now I get women and their purses 🙂

  8. Hey guys-

And not that you guys need more color choices… but let us know if there is a colorway that you’d like to see us make in the future, as we are always creating new ones.
