Although it is the &#039;first generation&#039; of ipods, that specific model in the picture that was on the Apple Store is the 3g ipod - the 3rd ipod. The first model had an actual physical spinning scroll wheel, the 2nd used a touch wheel, and the 3rd put buttons across the top. After this, Apple moved to the &#039;Click Wheel&#039; where all the functions were embedded in the wheel ( tilt to click ). This article has info about the 3G iPod;
