apple-greenI thought this was a joke, but Joachim Bean at The Unofficial Apple Weblog actually ordered one. Although it says 5GB ( yea, 5 GigaByte ) on the Apple store page, the receipt he received says 10GB. Did they find a shipping crate of these in some warehouse? Why would they suddenly offer them for sale? And I also didn’t see any mention of warranty, if I missed it please let me know.

  2. Uh. That’s not a “3G” iPod that the TUAW author found. It’s a “1G” or 1st gen. Though the 10GB one that was shipped to him would actually be a “2G” or 2nd gen.

  3. Looks like the iPod is off Apple’s store already.

    Although it is the ‘first generation’ of ipods, that specific model in the picture that was on the Apple Store is the 3g ipod – the 3rd ipod. The first model had an actual physical spinning scroll wheel, the 2nd used a touch wheel, and the 3rd put buttons across the top. After this, Apple moved to the ‘Click Wheel’ where all the functions were embedded in the wheel ( tilt to click ). This article has info about the 3G iPod;
