Is it a monster or is it a tripod?

Here’s a quirky product – literally. It’s the DigiDude from Quirky. It’s a portable tripod that you can attach easily to your photo gearbag, so that you’ll have it with you whenever you need it. Just unscrew the head and pop out the retractable legs and you’re good to go. Definitely cute and the price isn’t too bad at $19.99.

I have two concerns. The first is how stable is this little thing? It looks like the weight of a camera, especially a good one, would just topple it right over. Secondly, why all the sour and angry faces on these little fellows? Are there any happy, cheerful ones? Looks like just a gimmick for show rather than something truly reliable and useful.

I dunno… the FOZI I reviewed last year (http://the-gadgeteer.com/2008/02/04/fozi_pocket_tripod/) looks like it is a better price, more packable, and possibly more versatile.

Admittedly, it is not as cute. The faces on these tripods look a lot like the default avatars you use here, Julie!
