Surefire makes quality lights, of that there is no debate, but I must mention the Olight T10. It is as well made, IMO, features 5 illumination settings from 6 to 190 lumens, strobe and two SOS settings, and runtimes ranging from 1 to 50 hours, and can be obtained for 25% the cost of the Titan. I would love to have the Titan for my collection, but will settle for the T10 and almost $200 saved. Excellent review by the way - thanks.

I agree the price is high but I feel the quality is also high. I have had zero problems with my Ultra 2 or my LX2 whereas a number of other less expensive LED lights have suddenly or intermittently failed. I admit, they're a lot less money ($5 - $35) but I feel Surefire is going to work 5 miles out on the trail when the sun goes down, or in the movie theater when the power is lost, that sort of thing. Also, the duration of the batteries vs. the size, and the brightness vs. the size, are worth a lot of the price to me.

[...] warranty/etc. The most recent LED flashlight I have reviewed was the Surefire Titan, a small, very pocketable flashlight. Yet, at $240, not the most cost effective choice out there. [...]

surefire has worked very hard to make its image, like ferrari i suppose, they can charge outrageous amounts for their products because they are somewhat unique and fulfill a want, the want to be envied.

who needs a testarossa? who needs a surefire? NO ONE

who'll buy it? fools like me with too much money to spend.

Wow, for that kind of money, I'll expect a fully functional light sabre. Or at least, a blaster. I guess for us desk-bound city-dwellers who aren't dependent on a flashlight to save our lives, a $5 LED light will have to do. But I can see how if you were a fireman, law enforcement officer, soldier or the likes, you would spend big money on ultra-high end lights coz it could mean the difference between life and death in very hostile environments.
