@Patricia I found the leather to be way too stiff to fold back on itself. I could force it, but then it would feel uncomfortable to hold the cover that way. Maybe they have started using thinner leather since we posted that review.

I have the "Learning Tree" cover and it easily folds behind itself.
I chose the velcro instead of the straps so not to distract from the Kindle itself. It is very beautiful and I would highly recommend any cover from Oberon. The craftsmanship is beautiful and is certain to become an heirloom

Can you fold the cover back on itself when reading? That is a major concern with me.

@victoriag If it were me, I'd take a very sharp pair of small scissors and slice away thin strips of the strap until the slider switch is not obstructed any longer.

Hmmmm...I have the cover for the K2...and I am very frustrated by the fact that the upper left (inner side) strap covers my "awake" button...I have to keep pushing my Kindle to the right to use the button. I have contacted Oberon and they want me to send it in for them to "Fix"...I'm debating on just slipping a piece of either wool felt or moleskin into the strap to make my Kindle "sit up straight"...what would you do?

@Lani K No, either cover for the Kindle 1 or 2 will not fit both devices. The Kindle 1 cover is too short for the Kindle 2 and I think that the Kindle 2 cover is too thin for the Kindle 1.

Beautiful covers. As you have both for Kindle 1 and Kindle 2, do you think I could use one for both. I only put my kindles in a case for traveling and it would be nice to just have one that would fit both versions depending on which Kindle was coming with me that day.

I don't mind velcro or straps although having read Julie's comments I will probably go with Velcro

THAT is one GORGEOUS case!! Wow. Leather surface, tooling, dye, fasteners, it simply screams sophistication and all comes together for their marvelous creations.

Luckily they also make journals and all sorts of leather bound goods, so I don't have to buy a Kindle just to enjoy the ownership experience. :D

@John I agree that Oberon should have considered using the special spine clip for the Kindle 2. But the straps don't bother me since they don't cover any buttons. You can fold the cover back on the Oberon.

My Kindle 2 cover is the one made by Amazon Kindle. The black cover is just OK - nothing as beautiful as the Oberon - yet it has two excellent attributes: (a) the front cover folds back fully, and (b) two snap holders keep the K2 very secure - no velcro, no straps. Too bad Oberon doesn't use the snap method. Does the front cover fold back to facilitate easy, one-handed reading?
