After the first 6 mile hike through the San Gabriel Mtns (So Calif) I am very impressed with the Ventrapack. The product does balance out the weight of my daypack, and makes for a more distributed load. And as far as listening to my iPod while on a trail: I don't. In Southern California, that sufficiently limits your situational awareness so when the Mountain Lion jumps out of the bushes and takes a bite out of your butt, you'll never notice until you're a statiscic. :-) Saw the review, went to the web site, decided to order the product. Trying to find out where you are or where to go is going to get everything wet if its raining. I am assuming it is for outdoor use.
