I have had one for several months now and I really like it. It works great for land nav courses. Ive also used it for dayhiking and added magazine pouches on the front to hold water bottles.

@Rgrenader - Cool! Glad it worked out for you. And I'm glad you didn't get - um - surprised by a mountain lion. Did the map flap work as advertised? And I'd love to see an "Action Shot" as well!

Saw the review, went to the web site, decided to order the product. After the first 6 mile hike through the San Gabriel Mtns (So Calif) I am very impressed with the Ventrapack. The product does balance out the weight of my daypack, and makes for a more distributed load.

And as far as listening to my iPod while on a trail: I don't. In Southern California, that sufficiently limits your situational awareness so when the Mountain Lion jumps out of the bushes and takes a bite out of your butt, you'll never notice until you're a statiscic. :-)

Map pocket should load from side (rain) and "ipod" pocket /s device pockets should be relocated or have flap. Trying to find out where you are or where to go is going to get everything wet if its raining. I am assuming it is for outdoor use.

Agreed about the bomber vest look. Never, ever strap road flares to that thing as you're clutching a wired remote camera release!

i wouldn't want passer-bys to mistake me for a terrorist with explosives strapped to my chest... yikes.

I can definitely see this useful when i am commuting, or courriering when i don't want to have to get off my bike to grab some gear!!
