I'm not sure of all the details but GOG has repackaged the games to run abosultely fine, in my experience, on current PC's. And I tested 3 different machines on 3 different operating systems. I bought Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, and Redneck Rampage, all worked perfectly. Good Luck, give us an update if you try something. I remember awhile ago I tried to play the original Grand Theft Auto which was made for like a 486 machine on a Pentium 4 computer and the results was that the gameplay speed was so fast that I don't even have time to respond.
