With the Flipside in hand, tried waving the wallet by the sensor to pay for my stuff several times, and nothing happened! Cashier looked at me like i'm nuts! It works! I even put it right up flush against the "PayPass" RFID scanner and it still didn't scan my card. I finally took the card out of the wallet and it scanned fine. Its great to know the Flipside protects these RFID cards because i use them all the time. Its very rare that I would have to keep it in my back pocket and I guess I'll find out any issues if that situation ever arises. The Flipside is actually thinner then my wallet was, but I can see where the solid sides might pose a more uncomfortable situation then a standard leather wallet that has worn softened edges that taper. First impressions of it were that the outside was too smooth. It has a matte finish and felt too smooth in my hands...making me worry that it might be hard to handle/manipulate while opening. I instantly thought a textured finish might be the best thing for these. Flipside?...are you listening? ...hint..hint :-) Opening up and inspecting it, I saw that quite a bit of engineering went into the device. The center flip section where they suggest is made for a picture is slotted near the pins that hold it together to allow more flex and less chance for stress fractures of the clear plastic...which made me immediately think that maybe it could hold something a bit thicker then an ordinary picture. Sooo...I found that its a perfect spot for my Drivers Licence. On the Credit card side, the pockets for holding the cards have raised nubs along the inside edges to provide a slight amount of pressure along the edges of your cards...nice touch. There is a ramp on the outside cover section that allows the credit cards to whipped out very easily...almost liek when you are dealing cards out of a deck. I did find that I had more cards then the Flipside would allow so I scaled them down to the necessary ones and kept my "secondary" cards in my old wallet. Whats more important? My health benny card or my Home Depot? hmmm And for cards like my subway card which I use only wehn traveling into the city, I can put that in the money side on a temporary daily basis. Which leads me to: The money side is very conveniet also. It has a clear plastic flap that is spaced out from the casing. I was able to fold some "emergency bills" in half and slip them in the section while still being able to slip regular bills into the pocket as they are intended (one end only and the other end floating freely). Opening the money side gives quick access to the money since it is only captured on one end. I will, as I said, also be able to slip my subway "Charlie Card" into the money side for those days that I need to carry. I've only had it for a couple of days but so far I like it...I would still like a textured finish though for better gripping. I'll be traveling into Boston this weekend for a hockey game so I will be carrying my game ticket and my subway card with me in with the money so if I have any gripes I can let you know how it goes.
