Yeah, it does. I was terrified all over again (This happened right before Palmsource 2002 also. I was there sick, due to an infection I developed after the stereotactic biopsy). But I had the news that I was clear then, too. Made for a much better time at the conference then. This time, it kinda ruined what was a really fun day at that point.

It was my stepfather, who has successfully battled testicular cancer that told me, "Take it one step at a time". Don't dwell on it, or it will drive you nutty." He's right. I put away my anger and frustration for (most of) the weekend, and dealt with it Monday.

Pinger focus? I just checked back with Pinger after reading this review- I tried them before when I had a Blackberry...back then it was (as I would describe it) an application for "near time" voicemail messages. (my review here:http://my.opera.com/usability/blog/2007/05/29/pinger-near-real-time-voice-messages)

..but there appears to be nothing indicating this on the website. I now have an iphone and I've downloaded the app- it doesn't appear to offer too much of a redeeming value- SMS's get shunted off to the SMS interface, I've already got a contact book on my phone of the relevenent people I would want to contact (outside of social networks), I only see value if you're constantly hoping between multiple social sites. But for facebook or myspace only, why not just stick with their apps?

I really liked pinger back when it was near time voice communications, I don't think the way forward is with this "me too" social app. (unless I'm missing something), I think this is a step back.

Julie,

Unreal... Friday at 3:00pm, while I was in the press room at CES, I got the SAME phone call. Yesterday was the soonest I could get in, and thankfully it was negative (YEAH!). But the coincidence? Wow!

Glad you found something to keep you busy during what I KNOW is an incredibly stressful time.

So glad to hear the good report. Know that this community really cares for you.

Oh, and that's a cool app. (I am happy that even the CEO visited your review!) With all the many ways we can connect, it certainly looks like a needed aggregator.

I have used my Palms (in the past) and iPhone for similar distraction on several occasions. Whenever we have to wait for anything, my wife always asks for my iPhone. I keep asking her if she wants one of her own, but she says they are "too pretentious." But she'll use mine reading her websites until the battery dies! 8^)

Thanks for all the well wishes :)

I've always wanted to write a book... But I'm more of a short story kinda gal. A book would take too long ;) I'm all about instant (or semi-instant) gratification :)

I'm glad eveything is okay. If you ever tire of writing about gadgets, you'd make a great suspense writer. I always have some games or an ebook on my HTC Touch HD to pass time while waiting in others offices or just for stress relief times. The Spb Brain Evolution games are perfect. Something to make you concentrate and take your mind off unpleasantries.

Luckily it turned out good for you.
So many women over here in The Netherlands with breast cancer! About 11% of our women population now!

I love to read news while waiting (anywhere) on my Nokia E90. I simple use the mini-Opera browser for it. Many newspapers have special sites fit for use on a phone browser.
I quit my (paper) newspaper years ago. I don't miss a thing by reading the news on the internet sites. ;-)

Julie,

You *need* to put a disclaimer at the beginning of entries like this! You seriously scared me. Was this a evil scheme to make sure people read the whole article?

However, I'm so glad to hear that they didn't find anything serious and you were able to keep distracted while you were waiting. :)

I have to say this is one of the best reviews! The real-world tension grabbing situation you were in made it a page-turner (what an anachronism). Congratulations on the review, and most importantly on the good health.
