Julie,

I loved your review. I'm a fan of Coast tools and enjoyed your opinions. I noticed that you didn't mention any other implements that locked. Are the main blades all that lock? I'm thinking I might pick this one up. I have their Pro Power Pliers and Black LED POcket Pliers. If I could change anything on them, I'd have more locking tools. Keep the reviews coming.

@Malcom Look at the base of the blade. There's probably a little strip of metal that you need to press against the blade 'tray' in order for the blade to fold back into the tray/handle.

I have a COAST multi-tool which has sat in my glove box ever since I bought it. Out of curiosity, I opened some of the blades. The problem is that try as I might, I cannot find an unlocking mechanism. I'm sure it is childishly easy. Maybe you can help.
Thanks.

Hi Julie, I havent tried the coast but I agree about the SOG. I carry the B63 (Black version). They are cheapest on the net here; http://testedbestproducts.com/MultiTools/_SOG_B63_POWERLOCK_EOD_MULTI_TOOL_WITH_BLASTING_CAP_CRIMPER_VCUTTER_BLACK_OXIDE.html Hope this helps.

Tony:

That multi-tool does look better, but it's also quite a bit more expensive that the tool that I reviewed. If you're just trying to spam us with ads for your own products, please stop...

I think this one is better than in the one in review. Have you tried it?

Leatherman 830850 Skeletool CX Multitool
http://www.bestdealsonar.com/leatherman-830850-skeletool-cx-multitool/

It is light weight and very functional and it is easy to carry. The knife blade is very sharp and locks in place very safely. Plus the design and use of materials is outstanding. As a real functional tool in size and weight you can't beat it.
