@dennis: It's hard to say since I've not used any of BlueMic's other microphones. I would say that I really like this little one though.

This may seem like an extremely naive question but would this mike be have a similar recording quality to the Snowball (larger mike) produced by the same manufacturer related to "simple" music recording with say: Garageband? Thanks. dennis

Hello:

Good review and very helpful info. Might I suggest this alternative, the SP-USB-MIC-1, which to my ears, sounds better, is smaller, and costs less:

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-USB-MIC-1

Here is a sound sample with the Snowflake:

and a sample with the SP-USB-MIC-1 microphone:

Hey Julie,

I third the compliment about the wee sample of your uke, i quite honestly never thought of it as an instrument that was so delicate and emotional sounding, a really beautiful sound. lI always think of George Formby and "cleaning windows" when the ukele is mentioned.

Back to gadgets - this mike might be ideal for good quality recordings of lectures at universitys / research symposia. Did you notice how directional the mike was for more distant recording e.g someone lecturing 10 -15 yards away.
Cheers

Chris

Tyler:

I can't even finish writing a whole song, so I don't think I am anywhere near doing an album ;o) Thank you for the compliment though!

Julie,

You should consider writing up an album and putting it on an indie music store like AmieStreet or the like. I love the sound.

As for the mic, I think they look really nice. If I ever get around to producing the podcast I've been thinking about, this is probably the mic I'll get.

Dieter:

Please let me know what you think of the Snowflake once you do get one to try out.

As for the tune on the uke - I'm blushing :o) Thanks! It is just a little tune that I made up. It still needs some work.

I've been waiting for a review of this mic -- looks like I'll definitely want to pick one up for travel. Thanks!

Also -- the ukulele was beautiful, going to be in my head all day. :)
