I ordered a Palm Treo Pro and received it yesterday. It’s coming with me on my vacation to Treasure Island, Florida, along with the MSI Wind Netbook and a few other gadgets that I’ll be testing during my week off.

So far, there are several things that I like about this new Windows Mobile Treo, and at least one thing that I really hate…

Things I love so far:

I love the fact that the display is flush with the case instead of having a raised bezel around it.
I like the how solid it is and how thin it is.
I love the clock screensaver.

Things I hate so far:

The back cover!!!! It’s a complete pain in the #$@ to get it off.

More info when I post the full review… :o)

  2. I would like to agree that the back cover on the treo pro is a pain in the thumb. the other thing is,I cant get the speaker phone to work. Am I missing something? I press the button while in a call and nothing..

If you notice on the call screen, there’s a tiny lock icon in the upper right corner when you’re in a call. There’s an UNLOCK button at the bottom of the screen. Press the UNLOCK button and then press the SPEAKER ON button and you’ll be good to go :o)

  4. As much as I’m impressed with the Treo Pro, I think they really made a huge mistake to use the Centro keys instead of putting it in the 800w casing. I am guessing that you’re talking about the battery cover which is similar to what was on the Centro.

Gawd! I absolutely hated it! It’s way too annoying and frustrating to open and close the cover. I dreaded having to access the cover for resets and stuff.

It’s too bad that they have a decent device but cheapen it up. It’s not like the Treo Pro is a low end device like the Centro that they have to cut corners.

Curious to read your review thoughts.

  5. May:

I liked the 800w case style too, but I don’t not like the Pro style. I just wish it wasn’t shiny black and that the keyboard keys didn’t have the clear bubble tops. Otherwise, I like it fine so far. :o)

  6. I’ve been waiting quite impatiently for this review (-: Any hints? + or – ? I’m suppose to pickup up a treo 800w today. Do you recommend I wait?

  7. Thanks for the feedback. I picked the 800w up and it fits pretty good in my hand compared to my old clunker the 700wx. Now if I can only get SprintTV to work )-:
