Something will always come short with Palm. Why? Why put windows in this fine unit? Or also make a Palm OS version. That doesn’t work for me and thousands of others who know that Palm-formfactor works better with Palm OS

Bought a 800w yesterday to replace my dead 700p. However, it will only sync emails when plugged in to the USB cable. My 700p would sync and send emails from anywhere. Anyone know if the 800w can sync when unplugged?

The GPS WiFi features is a great addition

Shouldn't you be drawing a surface mount component or something instead of surfing ;o)

Julie, Per Wikipedia, "The carrier led group OMTP have recently endorsed micro-USB as the standard connector for data and power on mobile devices."

At a guess, since this is a new design, they went with the new standard. Also, you'll be seeing Micro-USB chargers/sync ports on almost all cell devices soon.

the last time I upgraded was with the tungsten t i will probably get an ipaq 214 soon to replace it due to battery life I also agree with julie but i still prefer the centro to the tytn 2

I love my Centro, but if I could stick it’s guts inside the 800w case, I’d do it in a sec ) The buttons feel a lot nicer / sturdier. Actually, the perfect device, would be a Centro with the same type of keys and buttons as the 800w ;o)

Sounds great! Only I would like to know about the battery issues on a day to day basis. I hated this issue on my Treo 680. The Centro blows the 680 away hands-down...

I agree with Jake: put a reliable Palm OS on it and I will go out and buy it tomorrow!!! I just ditched my iPhone, because I am crazy in love with my Centro! Win Mobile (on a Palm-formfactor) just makes for a non-com GUI. I don't like it. Wifi is what I am drooling for...drooooollllll

The issue with the headset is a non-issue for me. I listen to music via my iPod classic and in the car I pair automatically with a BT PA attached to my car's sun visor (works great). So going against the grain, sounds like the phone for me (aside from Microhard).

I'd also like to see a Garnet version. I like the form factor better than the 755p and those extra buttons would come in handy too. I don't see it happening though. Palm will ride the Centro at least until Nova comes out. I'm content with my Centro anyway.

BTW Julie, I really like the new format for the gadgeteer. Much easier to see what's new since the last visit. Thanks.

I really like the 800w. I wish I could keep it or buy a GSM model. I’d even happily run Windows Mobile 6.1 instead of Palm OS on it )

palm's answer to the iphone 3G. i also think this will be the ultimate treo but it should run palm os and they should make a completely new os palm os. c'mon palm make us want to upgrade
