I tried it out on 1/4" 'craftwood' (alder), trying to use it like a jigsaw. It has enough power for that, but the cut is rough due to excess vibration. So I'm also keeping my old jigsaw. I just can't find a good niche for this tool. BTW, I have since bought the equivalent Craftsman tool, the Nextec (some folks just never learn). It's a little beefier.
