The E-Ink Ana-Digi watch by Phosphor is an interesting combination of classic styling and modern technology. The Ana-Digi watch has a clean, relatively simple design, combining an analog
Swiss movement, digital time keeping, and a high-tech electronic face.

Phosphor uses the same E-Ink technology found in the
Amazon Kindle ebook
reader. Electronic ink is a high-contrast, low-power display technology. The E-Ink display is clear and sharp with good contrast, easily seen both inside and in direct sunlight. The analog hands and digital display are independent, able to keep different times.

The E-Ink face can be switched between white-on-black and black-on-white, each with multiple different modes/designs. Along with displaying the time, the date can take the place of the time below the center of the face. If you are a tech-person or just like knowing how things work, you should checkout how the E-Ink technology works….it is pretty interesting. It is a shame Phosphor did not engineer the watch to allow the owner the ability to modify the face with different fonts, layouts, and themes via computer.

The watch itself is very well made. The case and caseback are constructed of stainless steel. The front face is made of mineral glass crystal. It is water resistant to 50 meters (150 feet). All that being said, at 13mm thick and weighing 3.5oz, it is definitely not petite.

The upper control button toggles the digital date/time on & off and if you hold it down enables you to set both. The lower button toggles between black & white and if you press and hold, it switches through the various modes. The monogrammed crown is stylish looking and allows for reasonably accurate setting of the analog time.

It would have been nice if Phosphor had made the E-Ink ‘Ana-Digi’ watch a little more versatile/capable (especially for $250). I would suggest that they add the ability to modify screen/font/theme, a stopwatch, and a backlight (although, the photoluminescent hands enable you to see the analog time in the dark). It is approximately the same size as my Suunto T6 which is lighter and much more capable. Being the tech-sport guy I am, I will stick with my T6 but keep the E-Ink watch around for those days I have to dress up.
