matt, can't you just hook the USB cable to your PC and copy the video files over? i don't think you need and additional software.

I have one of these cameras. I bought it refurbished for just under $300 and for being a little mini throw away camera, it's awesome. The easiest way to make your computer use the mp4 files properly is to install the K-Lite codec pack. (google it). The main problem I have with it is it shoots in 60 frames per second and apparently my machine isn't buff enough to properly edit it in Premiere. The only way around this for me is to downsample it to 30 frames per second DV.
What I mainly use it for is underwater footage. I built an enclosure for it and it rocks in that application.

I have the camera but my real problem is downloading to my pc. I don't have a Mac. The only thing that I have left to try is the firewire. The usb does not work. Any suggestion?

I can't say how glad I am you made this review. Thank You. I have search the web and nobody has any video sampels of this camera. I plan to by the camera. The best deal I founs is 466 $ and I think it is worth it.
I don't see any problems in running the video files on my sistem . All of you sample videos run great. I am using the Klite codec pack . You can find it here :http://www.free-codecs.com/. It is free and it contains now addware. I can't decide between this camera and this one :
http://camcorder.praktica.de/index.php?id=8&L=1. The praktica camere is not a big brand but is costs almoust hald the price of the samsung. And gues what image sensor size it has..5 megapixels . How it this possible?? Whillw the samsung camera only has 1.56. How is tha possible??
Is there any way JULIE you could send me a longer movie made with this camera? At top resolution. I can give you an ftp addres if you would find the time to upload it. Thank You again for the great review.

PS. Core 2 duo is a must for HIGH def movies.Oder CPU wil run 100% with the correct codecs.

@Mawi: Do you mean what camera do I use for all my product shots? It's a Nikon Coolpix 8800. It's several years old, but is still doing a great job. I use a speedlight flash with it. Here's an article explaining how I capture product shots for my reviews:

I noticed, thank you. I just downloaded them and I must say. I like this camera alot. They will boost the quality of my next videos very much. Thanks again, I've been looking all over the place for samples, but didn't find any useful.

Hello. I like this review, it's got the most important details and info that is worth knowing about the camcorder before buying it. I just wish the samples worked, at least the best quality sample. Is there a way you can send them to me or re-upload them somewhere? I'm considering the camera for important reasons and I want to see a direct sample with no editing what so ever, has been done to it. I hope you can help me.

project:

I use this camera with my Mac and iMovie. I haven't tested it with any Windows software. It does come with a Software CD, so there might be some editing software included.

I don't have any issues with playing the highest quality movie clips on my Mac, so it could be a memory issue. You might try rebooting your laptop and then trying to play the video without loading any other apps. Just a thought.

I'm looking at buying one or two of the these cameras to do a little business (videos for parties, birthdays ect.) I went to the shop, borrowed the cam and shot about 2 minute of video in HD and took it home to play back on my NOTE BOOK-Acer aspire 5630,dual core, 2g of memory.
I'm very pleased with the clarity of sound and images- which were shot in low light.
However, I have 2 issues:
* The video images seem to play in a "freeze-shift" manner. Perhaps this has some thing to do with insufficient memory and , or the quality of my video card?
* The video file are recorded in HDV MP4 format which can not read by windows movie maker.
Do I need a program other than WMM to edit my video?
Do I need a PC with a better video card and more memory?
