@Andyvan Unfortunately, this problem is prevelant in this printer as well. If you leave it unused for a while, the nozzles clog up.

I am very pleased with my printer. I really wanted to know whether or not Epson makes a comparable portable printer that prints 5x7 or 8x10

I just bought this printer and the print quality is GREAT! My only concern is after I printer 15-20 pics and took my memory card out of the slot, my memory card to warm to touch. Is this common? I have two HP portable printer in addition to an expensive Epson & HP full-size printers and I have never noticed this before. I don't want to ruin my memory cards.

Andyvan:

You're right, I don't know the answer to that question because I've not had enough long term usage with it. I'll pose this question to my contact at Epson and see what their response is though.

Julie,

I don't expect you to know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway. ;)

In the past, some printers had problems with the ink drying and clogging up if you didn't use it very often. This is one reason that HP brags that you get a new print head when you buy more ink.

Do you know whether this printer would be susceptible to this?

ObscureStooge:

According to the information on the print pack packaging, there should be enough ink to print the pictures. I agree that it is probably cheaper to take your prints to Walmart or Costco as you mentioned, but for someone like me that tends to only prints few photos here and there, this is much more convenient. It's also great for instant gratification at parties and family events. Take your camera and this printer and pass out the photos before everyone leaves :)

Nice review Julie, as always.
Sounds like a very nice printer, but my whenever I look at a printer I always wonder about the consumables.
Are the ink/paper packs designed so that the ink and paper run out at the same time? Can you buy the ink separately and use your own paper?
I have a Kodak 4x6 photo printer and you have to buy the ribbon cartridge and paper together in a package. It does work out that the paper and ribbon run out at the same time.
From the prices you list, it works out to about $0.25/photo for the glossy, and $0.32 for the matt. Pretty comparable to the Kodak (which is glossy only). I find that I use it if I only want a couple photos printed, or need a photo in a hurry, otherwise I use Costco, which is way cheaper and has excellent quality.
