I've been using this headset extensively for the past 2 weeks. I've had a couple incidents during that time where there was a problem with my side or the other side of the call not being able to hear the other person. Other than those couple of incidents, this headset has performed very well for me. It's actually my new favorite. This is mostly due to the fact that it is small, easy to use, comes with 2 charging methods and is comfortable to wear for hours on end.

I have one of them myself now, and my thoughts are as follows:

1) I -love- the size of the thing, as well as the flashing LED indicator to indicate a missed call. The features like pulling it out of the cradle to answer and putting it back in to hang up are little touches. Two less button-presses, and it means I don't have to think about how to answer the phone. The worst part about this, however, is that it DOES take an extra second or two to 'pick up' the call when you do it this way.

2) The earpiece is a weak point - the eargel there has a really weak, IMO, retention mechanism, one which flies off if you pull at the thing wrong, and the way the earhook slides onto it means that if the earhook gets caught on something, the bud will inevitably go flying because the retention 'clip' is very, VERY weak. I think I broke mine with one such accident, as it got caught on a pen-stylus I was wearing in the same pocket. The bud still fits in the earpiece, but one flange of two, which serve to keep it clipped in, is missing.

3) Volume's very good, the microphone's okay, but the sound cancellation could be better. It's definitely no Aliph, but it does the job better than my old Samsung WEP200, and is far louder.

4) Battery life is just awful. I don't count the AAA-charger as being a good way to extend the battery life, unless you're away from USB ports or a wallcharger a lot; because you have to turn it off to charge, you can't use it to answer calls quickly when one comes in - it has to turn on (3 seconds of holding down the button), pair up (another 2 seconds), and then pick up the call (2-5 seconds). Even then, about half the time I've found that neither the other side or I can hear one another, even if the phone shows it's paired (and sending audio) to the headset; it's like the phone's on mute on both the mic and the earpiece.

Thanks for a great review again!

Now the only thing missing from this amazing product seems to be MultiPoint Paring. I've been a long time user of a Jabra JX10, and I'm loving it. I'm however looking for an easier headset to cary when not wearing it (the Jabra is flimsy to cary and I've actually broken multitude of earloop... good thing Jabra supplies replacements for free :p), but more importantly, a headset that would allow me to pair it to my Blackberry as well as the new Nortel IP set that they installed at our offices.

As far as I could see, only Plantronics was actively embracing the MultiPoint Pairing feature. Unfortunately, further research on the the Plantronics site revealed that they did not cary this feature through all models of the Discovery lineup...

Well, I'll keep looking...
